Roger Harris

One of the greatest men that I have ever had the pleasure to know died yesterday.

I lived in Chedworth (a small village near Cirencester) for 3 years. A relatively short period, but it was the only place in the UK that ever felt like home to me. Once I left the UK, I made sure I visited every time I went back.

Here’s a picture of me and my best mate, Rob, and crazy dog Lola, with Roger last September. I am so glad we got to see Roger then.

Go well, mate.

What The Ctenophore Says About The Evolution Of Intelligence

It meant that the nervous system of the ctenophore had evolved from the ground up, using a different set of molecules and genes than any other animal known on Earth. It was a classic case of convergence: the lineage of ctenophores had evolved a nervous system using whatever genetic starting materials were available. In a sense, it was an alien nervous system – evolved separately from the rest of the animal kingdom.
